Engine cuts out
I have a 1997 Jeep Wrangler, 4cyl. 5 speed, 4X4. While driving on a smooth road my Jeep runs great, But when I go off roading and the road gets rough(wash board) the engine cuts out momentarly and continues to cut out. I have checked with OBD reader and all is normal. thanks double2n

Re: Engine cuts out
Check your connections to your fuel pump and relay, and all the others,ie. coil.

Re: Engine cuts out
When was the last time you had a tune up? Heres a pointer, if the OBD scanner isn't picking up any codes than what ever is causing your jeep to cut off is not controled by the computer. At least not directly, look at the simple things first, plug wires, electrical harness connections especialy at the coil. Oh and if you haven't done it yet change out your fuel filter. Hope this helps.

Re: Engine cuts out
I found this thread after the fact but I just fixed the same problem on my 1997 2.5L SE. One of the wires had a lump under the insulation about an inch from the CPS connector. The wire had corroded through.
