new guy

Well, I'm new here, just wanted to say "hey" and introduce myself. George Roffe sent me this way. (p10det is his name here I think.) I've also met Luke, too, he's buying some stuff from me right now.

I own a few different cars, the G20 is what this is about, though. It's my daily driver (well, it's supposed to be more on that later) since my real car is sortof a race car. http://www.nx2k.com/eclipse/ for info on that. My race car runs 12.3 @ 112 in the 1/4 right now, but that's going to change this weekend hopefully.

The car is a black 1993.5 G20, has 150,000 miles on it right now. I've had the car for 4 or 5 months. The G20 was replacing my modified Sentra (GA16DE) that some stupid moron decided to total for me. I still have the wrecked Sentra in the garage right now, too.

Anyway, the G20 had a Greedy exhaust, stealin header and a stealin POP on it when I bought it. Along with some very bad brake pads, black brake fluid, some nice rust spots in some nice places, etc.

Most of what I have done up to this point has been gereral maintenance type stuff.

Brakes needed work, so I rebuilt all of the calipers, had the rotors turned, and installed VGX brake pads, and all new Ford DOT3 brake fluid. Oh, and I painted the calipers red.

Cams were worn from clogged oil tubes... This was the perfect opportunity to install a set of JWT S3 cams, new timing chain tensioner, and new cam oil tubes.

The tires needed replacing, and the stock wheels had seen better days, so I got myself some 17"x7" TR Motorsports Typhoons with 205/40/17 Kuhmo Ectsa Supra 712's.

Sometime during this whole mess, I decided that the extra SER sway bar that I had would fit on the G, so I mounted a 91-94 SER front swaybar under the front of the G20. It was pretty easy except for all of the broken suspension bolts I had to deal with.

Right now the car is down for the count. The transmission has been making a funny noise for a while (since I got it pretty much). About two weeks ago the noise got a lot worse, and now is very noticeable. So I think things inside the tranny aren't kosher. My particular G doesn't have a LSD.. yet.

My next project, hopefully starting today, is to replace the transmission and clutch. I have a NX2000 transmission sitting here in the garage. A set of NX2000 axles, a JWT clutch kit, a lightened stock flywheel, and I think that's it. I'm going to try and do some funky stuff to the transmissions. I'll be mixing and matching gears to get the best set of ratios that I want. I'll report back on my success with that.

Since I had the service manual out to read it, I decided to scan it while I was at it.

This link is from the FSM from my 93.5 G20.

http://www.nx2k.com/g20_fsm_mt/FrameSet.htm

This one is for the supplimental manual for my car.

http://www.nx2k.com/g20_sup_mt/FrameSet.htm

In retrospect, I'm not sure why I scanned the G20 stuff, since most G20 guys have a FSM that came with their car like mine did. Oh well.

Anyway, that's me. I live in the Atlanta, GA, area, and I'm pretty active on the SER mailing list, the local SER list, and damn near any DSM forum I can get my hands on.

If the link in my sig doesn't work, the website for my G20 is:
http://www.nx2k.com/G20/
The site is real simple right now, just a pic and a mods list basically, but I'll be expanding it as I go.

Right now it appears that my site isn't working, so none of the links will work, but I trust it will be back up shortly.

Hey Jay, welcome a board. I'd be very interested in the specifics of the sway bar mod. They won't be on the SE-R archives would they. I don't recall you posting them there. Anyway you should have a good time here. There's quite a few peeps that are serious about modding their G's.

Thanks for the welcomes!

Actually, I did post the SER sway in a G20 to the SER list.

http://www.se-r-list.org/archives/20.../msg01201.html

It was pretty easy, really. The only hard part was cutting off this lip on the G20 suspension that was in the way. And that wasn't really hard since I had a cutoff wheel and stuff.

I don't take the G20 muddin' just the truck. The G's going to stay looking like a 4x4. It's my daily driver, so I'm not going to lower it or anything. That's just too much hassle to deal with, the G20 is just supposed to be a no BS, no hassle sort of car right now.
