Windshield Wiper Woes.

96 Duratech:
My windshield wiper and spray have quit but my blinkers and dual beams work fine.

If the WW Motor is out on the car will the pump quit with it?

If not I am going to be looking into buying a new switch (or taking the SHO’s) and I just spend $300 replacing the switch in the GEO last month.

Re: Windshield Wiper Woes.

Test your washer motor and see if it is getting power when the switch is operated. See if the wiper motor is getting power when the wiper switch is turned on. No power, then try cleaning the contacts in the switch.
Are you mechanically inclined? Yes, then look at a repair manual and replace the switch yourself. Save on the labor costs.

Re: Windshield Wiper Woes.

I am a master millwright.....I am mechanically inclined...But my eyesight isn't the best so often times it is often difficult for me to remove parts of the car and read an ohm meter. I was hoping someone knew off hand the electrical schematics of the windshield wiper pump and would be able to tell me that if the motor being out would prevent the fluid pump from working.

Re: Windshield Wiper Woes.

I was able to get my son-in-law to check the voltage at the plug leading into the windshield wiper motor and it didn't read anything and all the relays are fine. I am going to pick up a new multi-switch on Friday and let everyone know how it goes.
