Exclamation an old ac problem

98 w/2.2

i have searched this and several other web sites only to find others with the same problem and no solution. ac works fine- charged and everything. it works on settings 1, 2, and 3, whether in the ac or in the max position. the problem- when i put it in the 4 posistion, it blows a fuse. for everyone else with this problem, the fuse that is blown is under the hood, not in the cab. i have read of a lot of people having this problem and replacing relays and blower motors, and i think a lot of people are not aware that there is a fuse for the high speed on the blower motor. mine is the 1998 2.2, so it does not have a bunch of relays along the firewall, at least not that i can tell. i would love to get the prob fixed, any input is appreciated.

Re: an old ac problem

speeds 1 2and 3 go through a resistor pack or 'modual' now days, speed 4, or high, runs a direct 12v b+ (hot) to the blower right out to a ground, you may have a short to ground problem in the hi speed wiring
