Annoying Noise!!!

Hey how are you 3gt owners my name is Dave and I own a 1992 3000gt VR4 with 98,000 miles. I've had it for 2 years now and all I can say is amazing, this is a classic in my opinion but that's besides the point. I have a few question's and i would appreciate if i get can get some response to them. Recently my car started making this SCREECHING sor of wistling type of noise, my mechanic said it was the pulleys so i purchased the 3 main pulleys on the 3sxperfomace.com they were the 2 Tensioners, and 1 Idler, but i keep on heraing the same noise when my car is moving. It starts screeching when i go over 20mph but quiets before that. I was wondering if anyone had that same problem.

Re: Annoying Noise!!!

Does it matter what rpms your are at? It sounds like maybe a belt. Otherwise all I can think of is the rotor rubbing agianst the pads or a wheel bearing.

Re: Annoying Noise!!!

can you give us more details, please.

as SL3000GT said, does engine RPM seem to play a factor?

i assume you hear the noise coming from the engine bay?

does the sound occur when the car is under load? cruising? decelerating? or just all time over 20mph?

can you describe to us the screeching sound? is it like a whine or rather a chalk-board like screech?

prematurely, to me it sounds like your alternator is going out. with the sound occuring only at speeds over 20 mph, it would make sense that you alternator is having trouble keeping everything recharged at that certain level of strain on the vehicle. i could be way off, and its a premature diagnosis.

let us know more about it.

Re: Annoying Noise!!!

Yeah, the more info the better.

When you swapped pulleys, did you change the belts?
