Ls/vtec

What are the bennefits of having a b18c1 vtec head as to a b16 vtec head for an LS/Vtec set up?? One of my friends in an auto class i have said it's different compression ratios...just want to see what you guys have to say.

I have a b18a1 in my 91 integra and i'm debating on doing the ls vtec AND turbo or just slapping on a turbo and calling it a day. Any sugestions? I'm not going to do the LS/Vtec myself (if i decide to go that way) i'm going to have a shop here in town do it but i want to hear what you guys have to say about it before i go and drop some serious moolah

Re: Ls/vtec

weren't you asking how to pull out a block not even 3 weeks ago? well you musta had a wonderfull time working on your car, because if you start putting those kinda parts on as well as a turbo, you obviously wanna drive fast, you drive fast, you are gonna blow that motor up again, then you can have that wonderfull time again. Also, realize that you are gonna spend a lot of $$$$. those kinda parts aren't cheap and labour isn't cheap, and that's money you likely won't get back when you decide to sell it. now, if you are rich, then by all means, get at 'er, but if you don't shit money, i'd go stock and do the work yourself. I'm sorry if i sound like your mother, but take it from me, I'm Mr. Heavyfoot, if you razz the piss outta your car, you are gonna spend a lot more time in your shop having wonderfull times. I've blown up over 30 engines i shit you not and I'm not a race car driver and I'm sick of looking at the inside of my old man's shop. I'm only 28 and my back is shot along with my knees, unless you wanna be in the same boat, baby your car and stay off of the concrete (garage) and the ground (outside). I just pulled a 318 outta dodge full size van today for my uncle and i didn't have a wonderfull time. 6 months ago i semi-finished fixing an integra that i bought smashed, it wasn't a wonderfull time, and it cost me big time. Sorry for bitchin cause i know that i hate being told what to do (i'll usually do the opposite) but hey, whatever you do, have a wonderfull time doing it.

Re: Ls/vtec

Yeah, that was me. I'm not exactly new to the honda scene, but i have never pulled a motor. I had a mini me setup in a 92 hatch, so i do know a little about honda's. Anyways, the motor came out like cake, pretty straight foreward, the hardest part was getting to the motor mounts. But now i have my other b18a1 sitting infront of my car and everytime i look at it i come to think about vtec, or a turbo. So yeah...i'm not sure which i want to go with first. I'm starting to think just turbo since i've heard about a lot of people with problems with the LS/Vtec being reliable. And since i've only blown one motor (in my hyundai) i'd rather keep it to that (i bought the integra with a blown motor...$400 perfect body, perfect interior minus driver seat, skunk coils)

Anyways anyone want to try to convince me about the LS/Vtec or should i just go turbo? (I'm going to rebuild the internals btw)
