customer with concealed-gun permit shoots robber

This happened about a month ago BUT I was just reminded of it and thought I'd post it. It happened in Tulsa and was in the local news. I don't think it made anything national.

Quote:
Police say a customer with a concealed-pistol permit shot one of two armed men holding up a Tulsa grocery.

A man was shot Saturday evening as he and another man attempted to rob a Homeland store near 91st Street and Memorial Drive, police reported.

Two men in dark clothing approached a register around 7:15 p.m and demanded money from employees as one of the men brandished a semi-automatic pistol, Capt. Brett Bailey said.

Shortly afterward, a customer in line nearby pulled out a revolver and shot the man holding the pistol, Bailey said.

Police think the customer fired one shot at the robber, he said.

Although police don't know where the gunman was wounded, they know that he was hit, Bailey said.

"There was blood on the floor," he said. "He definitely was hit."

The two bandits then ran into the parking lot and fled in a white four-door sedan, Bailey said.

The vehicle possibly was an older model Oldsmobile, police said.

Police do not know whether the men got any money from the store, they said.

Officers locked down the store and asked everyone inside to give a statement about what they saw, Bailey said.

Police said the customer who shot the robber had a license to carry a concealed pistol.

Several bystanders were in the store, but no one else was injured, police said.

A Homeland employee, Linda Lewis, said she was sacking groceries when she saw two men wearing hoods trying to push their way into a gated area of the store to an office where a safe was located.

"I turned around and saw these guys come in with hoods over their faces," she said.

She lay down on the floor, she said, because she "knew something was going to happen."

Next, she said, she heard gunfire and feared that an employee had been shot.

"I heard two shots, and I didn't know if a customer or a robber was shot," she said. "I thought we'd be next."

Lewis said she was "scared half to death," adding that she was thankful that no cus tomers or employees had been shot.

"If it hadn't been for him (the armed customer), there's no telling what would have happened," she said.

Police were searching for two men in connection with the robbery Saturday.

It's reported that the shooter used a .357 Magnum revolver . Looks like it was pretty effective.

What's funny is it was a 75 year old man who was standing in the checkout line. I bet those guys never would have suspected he was packing.

A great story to think about the next time you hear a politician say you don't need a gun. Guess who in that story would have been armed and who wouldn't have been.

Well, the police can't be everywhere at once, and some people are better prepared than others to fill in the gap. It's too bad the guy didn't get a head shot for a quick kill. What the hell, center mass works better in a tight situation.

Re: customer with concealed-gun permit shoots robber

The customer exercised his legal rights to defend both himself and others during the commission of a felony. At least he wasn't afraid to use the force necessary to prevent something that may have been a lot worse. The clerk or one or more customers may have been shot or killed had the gentleman not acted the way he did. Two thumbs up for the 75 year old citizen!!!!!!

Seriously we really do need a group of guys that go and kill the worthless like they do in Boondock Saints.

Wish both of those fuckers wouldn't have made it out alive.

I know I need a gun. It's especially handy when I need to rob banks and shoot people.

Re: customer with concealed-gun permit shoots robber

If those guys were real men, they would have tried to rob the place with their fists. Any freak can pull a trigger -- it takes real bollocks to get shit done with the threat of a knuckle sandwich.

Re: customer with concealed-gun permit shoots robber

Not entirely on subject but still dealing with worthless scum of our society. My friends sister and brother-in-law live in my neighborhood directly across from our neighborhoods police station.

Last week or a few weeks ago he was outside when a car full of black guys pull up in a suspicious looking car. They start hollaring something to his brother-in-law and then say "can you fix our muffler"?he says "No". "Well you got a muffler for us?" Again he says "No", as he proceeds to backtrack into his house to get his gun(s) as a few of the guys step out of the car.

All of a sudden a couple cop cars roll up quick with guns drawn. A few guys run, but they catch them. Apparently these guys had been robbing people around the neighborhood either that last few days or during the day. More proof of how dumb criminals truely are when they attempt an armed robbery practically in front of a police station.

I was almost scared, but at the same time it made me realize how quickly the cops will be at a scene in our neighborhood. One of the great benefits of living here. Not to mention if anyone sees a suspicious vehicle, no one hesitates to call the cops. Since we're not extremely active, they have no problem checking it out.

It would be even better to live in a country where the bad guys don't have guns, so nobody needs one for personal defence!!

Re: customer with concealed-gun permit shoots robber

guns are illegal in the UK where i live, that doesn't stop the criminal having them (not all are illegal) i have a number of friends with illegal guns, they're very easy to get if you know the right people.
