GT500 Engine Failures already?

Yep the GT 500 already has major failure issues. It seems that the crank shaft has been fracturing or breaking at the snout. It’s a good thing this was caught early unlike the issues the GT had that ended with them having to install a diaper.

The fact that this same problem is happening again on what is essentially the same engine as the GT is the problem. However, even BON presents the article as unsubstantiated.

No they are smart its how they got them to pass emissions. With less than 26lbs it revs to fast and won’t pass the emissions standards.

Eh, that doesn't make a lot of sense to me, but thats fine if it's the case. I reread the article and it said the GT uses something similar.......which goes back to what I said about how this should have already been sorted out.

hes right, if you read the peice speedfreak posted it says the Lightnings balancer is less than half the weight.

This is the second paragraph and it says nothing about the GT's damper nor how much it weighs. It just says that the GT500 got a damper designed just for it. That could mean anything, like its almost identical to the GT's, but the diameter is different or the pully configuration is changed, but they weigh the same. I'm done with this, it doesn't even matter at this point other than crank failures shouldn't have been a problem.

The problem with the GT wasn't the damper because it used one designed for it and it didn't weigh 26lbs. The problem was a oil leak that Ford opted to fix using a speedi-sleeve to stop the leak. The oil leak was due to a random worker who incorrectly polished the cranks with an emory cloth--instead of keeping his hand in the same place while the crank revolved, he moved it down the length in effect creating a path for the oil to follow out of the engine.

christ talk about random. im not sure if you can blame ford for that or not...
