Transmission Cooler
I am installing a B&M trans cooler on my 1998 5.7 4wd. Z-71
I already have the factory engine oil cooler and want to bypass the radiator trans cooler without using regular rubber hose and clamps. They always tend to leak. I am going to use Aeroquip steel braided lines with regular AN fittings. My question is, What kind of thread is it where the lines go into the trans? I would like to have everything on hand before I start and it looks like a pain to take one off just to see the thread and reinstall it until I have everything for the project. Thanks!! |

Re: Transmission Cooler
I'm just checking to see if you found the info you needed to complete the project. I am wanting to do the same thing.
Do you have any advice you can give me? Thanks, James |

Re: Transmission Cooler
I had to order the part from GM just to see what the threads are.
The part hasn't arrived yet. I have all my Aeroquip fittings (the ones I know I will need) and braided line and cooler. Just waiting on that part......... |

Re: Transmission Cooler
Just 2 cents worth, I installed the large B&M cooler a few years ago,
I was told buy several trans "experts" to run the trans fluid through the rad cooler first then to the after market cooler, that the fluid needs to be warm for the fluid and trans to work at thier best, that by using both coolers the fluid will reach optimum temp faster and then maintain that temp consistantly. just my 2 cents |
