Buying a Used Fender

Don't need it yet but I need to plan ahead, maybe even reserve one when it comes in. What are the chances I can get a stock painted blue front fender, like the factory color, undamaged, from a junkyard?

If that doesn't work, who else should I ask and how much might it cost? I can't afford new paint or a new fender

Unless a bag of money drops out of the sky right now like It always does for me

Re: Buying a Used Fender

Finding a perfect stock used fender is easy...finding it in the right color...thats another story...
The pick-ur-part about 40 mins away from me sells them for like $26 or $29
Then get some Dupli-Color spray paint of the correct color...and you are good to go.
Dont expect it to be perfect...perfection costs $$$, but it will be exceptable and it will tide you over till your next paint job...

Re: Buying a Used Fender

chances of that happening are spretty slim, a matching fade, undamaged fender.

Re: Buying a Used Fender

Unfortuntely you can't mold fiberglass like metal. So if its lost its shape or is sticking up in a corner or its pushed in or out. There is no banging around with it like sheet metal, It just has to be replaced.

Re: Buying a Used Fender

if the piece is in the center and not on a body line. It can be repaired with resin but if there is a body line or its a end piece. The amount of work required to get it into the same shape as it was would be the same as you piecing together a brand new fender.

Re: Buying a Used Fender

oh crap....who has a green camaro?? With the crack in the right front clip? Thats what im thinking about. Sorry guy. If you need a fender replacements are cheap for thirdgens. about 100 bucks new. Or if you get on www.thirdgen.org and go to the classifieds you can probably find a couple guys parting out their cars. You can get all kinds of thirdgen stuff there.

Sorry about the confusion.

Stoystown Auto Wreckers USA-PA(Stoystown) E-mail 1-800-358-8770 - Also Blue 92 Z but says it has a small dent- $75.00

Oil City Auto Salvage Inc USA-MI(Shepherd) E-mail 800-255-8727- Has 91 Z blue fender - says its the same as 92. $ 60.00

Gary's Auto Salvage USA-TN(Jamestown) E-mail 1-931-879-4457/1-866-879-4457 Has 92 Z Blue right fender- $ 50.00

Discount Auto Salvage RP+ Member USA-WI(Sturgeon-Bay) Request_Quote 1-800-982-6400 Request_Insurance_Quote 92 Blue Z This one is super cheap , so I would ask on its condition- $25.00

If they try to rape you on shipping. Let me know, I have a UPS account and am a registered business. So I can get it to you for a more reasonable charge than they may offer you. Although sometimes they only charge you exact shipping and it is a metal fender so its definetly not going to be a 10 buck ship or anything. If none of those work out I have a few more that say to call for pricing and a few more blue one's that were slightly more money. You might also want to consider picking it up. Like the one in PA, I think there was also one listed in Philadelphia for slightly more that was blue. Good luck.

Re: Buying a Used Fender

That's excellent that you found all of those, but one question, are the 91-92 fenders different because of the 85-90 ground effects? If not then I'll contact some places

Dammit, I read your reply and read it like this. 92 Z (as in thats your car , year and model) and then not a 4th gen fiberglass fender. (as in not a 4th gen cause you said it was a 92 Z). I will look for the 87 now, I never even looked at your sig
