99 Suburban Tail Lights......fuse blows

Driving along and hear a snap.....fuse blows....no tail lights....I replace the fuse...3 days later...fuse blows again....now...when I replace fuse and as soon as I turn on the headlights....fuse blows which runs the tail lamps/dash board light. Turn signal works, brake lights work, reverse lights work, no tail lamps. Any ideas? I have checked the bulbs...and the light switch itself. I don't have a trailer assembly hooked up and never have had one. Thanks for any insight!

Any add on like a different radio/stero?
If it is doing it all of the time start unpluging stuff on the tail light circuit untill you find it. Or unplug it all and start hooking it back up one thing at a time.
A circuit breaker will save on replacing fuses untill you find it.

Well do not stop there and give up on it.

You need to get a good wiring diagram on it and keep on looking.

http://www.alldata.com/products/diy/index.html

It is just a matter of unpluging the right thing.

Here is just a few things that hook to that fuse.
Ash tray light, door switch illumanation, fender lamps, fog lamp relay, lisence plate light, roof marker lights, cargo lamp ,front parking lights, head light panel light dimmer , maybe glove box light ,sometimes under hood light and trailer wiring plugin.
And I have had some that the cigar/cigerett lighter ran off of it to.
Any thing droped in it or has it got pushed in.

Parts places and tool dealer also have short finder tools that may help you locate to.

Good Luck MT
