car loan and monthly income

hello, i currently live in charlotte nc and earlier this week my car stopped running and i was told i needed an engine. I have decided that it would be better for me to get another car than fix my old one. The thing is that my monthly income is only $1050 a month and my credit score is around 540. It seems like everywhere i go for an auto loan requires you to have a monthly income of $1500. I am not trying to get an expensive car i would settle for one that costs around $5000 or even lower if i had to. Is there anyway i can get a car in the charlotte area with my income and credit score?

Cool Re: car loan and monthly income

Right now you just need basic transportation. An ideal car that will get you from home to work and back. I say stick with something dependable that will leave you enough money for personal use and so on. Maybe you could try and find a '93 Honda Accord. The accord has always had great marks through the past decade. This is probably your best buy if you need A to B transportation and a dependable car without spending a great deal of money. I'm sure you're not a car jock and could careless what people think of you and how the car looks. You can always service the car for a few hundred or less for a paint job and maybe some new brakes however honda has been pretty reliable over the years. I was looking through several Accords in my area since i dont know your zip i did some research in my own. You would really be suprised how much of a selection there is with honda <5k. Give it a few looks at autotrader.com and thoroughly research some honda's or maybe a Toyota Camry. Try to stay simple , positive, and realistic through your search. Even if all your co-workers are pulling up in bimmers, who cares what they think? You are there to make some serious money reguardless of what they think. You can make the right choice.

Take care man.
