currently i have a 1989 cadillac deville that is bluebooked at $4000. I received it two years ago as a gift from my grandma when she passed away. The problem is that as an 18 year old student, it is too complex for me to fix problems on it. I was hoping to find a mid-80s 3 series for about $4000 that will run well as a summer vacation car.... Any suggestion?? what years have the most reliable transmissions, engines, etc.? thanks for your help.

4k bmw
I just purchased a 4000.00 bmw I would go with the e30 3 series and closer to 86-91 this way most of the manufacturing and reliability problems were solved. Go with a manual transmission.

I believe they are still selling in the teens. And if it is in good shape shouldn't go any lower than that since it is such a great and unique car.
