Re: What first...

If non turbo the biggest I would go for in exhaust would be 2 and 3/4 and thats pushing it. 2 1/2 to be safe. Chips Revo racing makes a flash kit for your car. Just plug it into the diagnostic port and start the car or something. The easiest way to add like 25 horses I think. And remove some govenors.

Re: What first...

Revo chips remove all govenors. Governors are nice little programmed items on your ecu that don't let your car go over on certain things. Go revo to remove those and headers...you can have them custom made or I think remus makes something for your car. Good luck.

Re: What first...

I wasnt sure if there were any physical govenors i could remove. What about timing on these motors, are there ways to tweek anything to squeeze out some HP? What about chassis lightening. Coming from a honda backround where i can do many things to squeeze out HP. Can i transfer my MSD from my crx to the VR6?

Re: What first...

The msd system from your rex will probably be for a 4 cyclender (spelling?) motor will the VR6 is a 6. Doing extra grounding always helps any car. That revo kit though is extremely easy and can be good for about 20-40 hp. I don't know if your MAF has a screen covering it but you can remove that and smooth that area down. Tuning a VW is essentially the same as tuning a Honda, Acura, Chevy, or anything. Just get the parts and go at it. Really the only difference is motor layout. Neuspeed will be your best bet for suspension upgrades and some power upgrades....dahlback if you have lots of money to spend. They're VW specialists from Sweden I believe. Just google around and you'll find something.
