I have a serious title problem...
I purchased a 1988 Volvo from a private owner maybe a year ago. He signed the title over to me, however, I never went to the DMV to have the title issued in my name. (I've had it sitting in my yard). I have since lost the title and have no way of contacting the previous owner. NY DMV will not release any information and I am running out of ideas. Any suggestions on obtaining the previous owners info or simply getting the title reissued to me?

Re: I have a serious title problem...
If you have a bill of sale for the vehicle take that to the DMV and that should be able to show them that you bought it. If not then try to track down the original owner and have them go with you to the dmv to get it.
