just joined and need help badly
Hello i just found your forum not sure if its the right place to ask this but here i go.i have a 1994 s10 blazer with the 4.3ltr. 5 days ago i noticed a coolant leak. So i drained the system and refilled it. I am pretty sure its the water pump. Ok straight forward for me. 2 days later topped off coolant drove 2 miles came home. Sat for 8 hours then went out. Truck wouldnt start. couldnt figure why. noticed oil dipstick was bone dry, but havent been leaking oil. Next day got i jump started ran it for 40 mins then shut off. Next morning wouldnt start. Bought oil at local store added 2 qts, still no oil on stick. tried in vain to charge battery thinking it wasnt cranking enough. next day added 2 more qts of oil, still none on dipstick. Tried to jump it with no luck, the engine does look to be turning over fine thou i will add. I am very poor right now and this is our only vehicle. Any help would be sooooo appreciated thanx.

Welcome to Auto Forums mossin69
![]() Whatever you do don't start your truck until you see oil close to the full mark on the dipstick. You might not have enough oil in there for the truck to start. If it still doesn't start you'll have to look for spark and if you have spark then you'll have to look for fuel |

Re: just joined and need help badly
Right now it's a good thing that your vehicle isn't starting as if the dipstick is correct then there's not enough oil in the engine and could cause the engine to sieze which would require a complete rebuild or new engine. Get a gallon jug of oil and pour some into the oil filler hole and after a little at a time check the dipstick to see if any is on it and keep going until it is seen. Another thing to try is if you have any friends that have the same vehicle with same engine in it try using their dipstick to make sure the one you have isn't to short causing the oil not to be seen. Once you get the oil level to the right place then get it started and let the engine run for a while to make sure the oil has time to circulate and re lube the engine if it was out of oil. As for the coolant leak if you haven't already replaced the water pump then when you do so replace the upper and lower radiator hose and hose clamps to prevent any hose failure as well.

Re: just joined and need help badly
Mine stopped leaking coolant when I stopped filling rad to top of neck. I leave level few inches below to mimimize pressure build up on gaskets, hoses, clamps.
You figure out if right dipstick and where oil going ?

Re: just joined and need help badly
well i put 5 qts in the engine still no oil on the stick and its not leaking into coolant or on ground, plus now it seems it wont start because my fuel pumps not turning on. I just give up at this point probubly just sell it as parts. since fixing all the problems will be more then i paid for the blazer.

Re: just joined and need help badly
If you put 5 quarts in it and its not leaking onto the ground then you have a magical engine. The oil is going somewhere, 5 quarts is more than enought to show up on the dipstick. Not to be condescending but are you checking the right dipstick?

Re: just joined and need help badly
Even the transmission would be way too full now, I'm kinda wondering if the dipstick is broken off somehow.
Unless the oil is crystal clear, and you just can't see it on the stick, try wiping it off and seeing if the rag is full of oil |

Re: just joined and need help badly
yes i am checking the right dipstick. No its not broken off. As for wiping it off there isnt even sludge to wipe off its bone dry. This ones got me scratchin my head big time. And with the truck not starting now due to a mysterious fuel problem as well i just about give up messing with it. it would be cheaper to buy a new one then take it to a garage+.

Re: just joined and need help badly
well here is some hope it has a fuelpump shut off if oil pressure is to low you need to disconnect the batery for about ten min to reset that since it happened before you could get it to start but the oil problem is a different thing look inside your valve cover and see if oil is standing in it maybe a stupped up drain back I had that problem with a 4.3 monte carlo that had been run hot a few times maybe this would help

Re: just joined and need help badly
thanx for the idea ill try disconnectin the battery tonight and see if it will reset. as for the oil i figured it was going some where in the block. i know it wasnt leaking and thier is no way i burned up oil that fast. i didnt run it hot very long only a few miles or so. im ussually good with my vehicles. Although it doesnt help that the previous owner let it sit for long periods of time so its pretty rotten under neath. i was expectiong it to fall apart before the engine stopped runnin lol

Re: just joined and need help badly
well update,
my dipstick now lies pulled the oil plug and like 8 qts came out so im goos there. Now it just comes down to why when i refilled my radiator did the truck stop getting fuel? im pretty sure that the fuel pump is not running so i guess i have to check the wires. Also does anyone know what the proper oil pressure is my gague reads like 20 after i cranked the engine for a minute. thanx |

Re: just joined and need help badly
I can't answer any of your questions, but I will sugest that you add the corect amount of oil and add a new line to your dipstick (if you can see it on the dip stick) The line is never really in the right place anyways.
