79 cj7 need info making it for off road use

I have a 79 cj7 everything on it is stock. It has full time 4 wheel drive no high or low in it. straight six. I wanna make it a full time off road jeep that i take rock crawling. Ive never done this before on a jeep, ive put on lifts and other off road parts on trucks but i want this jeep to do more of the fun stuff. Im not looking to turn this into a major rock buggy but i wanna put about 3 to 4 thousand in it and be able to go more places and have fun with it. If anyone has got any info on what would be good and how to do this I would appriciate it. Thank you

The Quadra-trac 4WD system is going to be a problem. For rockcrawling you will need a low range. They make a gear reduction kit that bolts to the rear of the Quadra-trac transfercase, it was a factory option. You could also get a Marlin Crawler to bolt to it for gear reduction. You could switch the transfercase out with something else but then you will have spline count issues with the transmission and differential offset issues with the rear axle.
Put in a low range kit, lower differential gearing, do a spring over conversion, put in some allow axleshafts and slap some 35s on it and have fun.

dump the quad track ...pick up a Dana 300 ..... get the spring perches swapped so they are on top the axels ...gain ya about 4inch ... you should allready have d-44 diffs ...if not find an old International scout and get the diffs ...be sure to correct steering geometry ...goin Spring over ...you can fit 33 Boggers or TSLs or alike ..... I actually like Biased ply boggers for rock with bead locks .... the lugs act like fingers grasping the rocks when aired right down ...pretty good if ya wanna get muddy to

friend of mine put in brake line locks .... a mod you might wanna look at doing ...
For under 4k USD you can do all that i mentioned as long as you are willing to do some work .... swapping the spring perches ... get a pro to do that
