humm alternator?
so here is the question of the week. ive asked all the honda people i know and ive gotten various answers from all of them. so are alternators interchangeable? i mean i have three single cam alternators, and the alternator on my b16 just took a crap. so can i just use a single cam alternator? or am i gona have to look around for a b series alternator? thanks guys appreciate your help.

Re: humm alternator?
an alternator is an alternator so long as you don't blow anything with the amps it puts out being too high or whatever. basically, cars and alternators have special adapters and plugs that just snap right in or fit a certain way when you bolt them on. to adapt an alternator's wiring with wiring of your own wouldn't be too difficult so long as there aren't extra sensors that the alternator needs to regulate voltage correctly, or vice versa, a sensing wire that the ECU has and the alternator doesn't. make sense?
almost sounds like more trouble than its worth. |

Re: humm alternator?
As long as theyre the same generation(ie, obd0, obd1, etc.), they should interchange. I've never looked at the alternator connector, but I do know that the pulley between my D15B2(OBD0) and D15B-VTEC(OBDI) are different(different # of ribs; 2-rib vs 3-rib). Pulleys can always be swapped out though.
