Code P0500 "Vehicle Speed Sensor"

2002 Ram, 1500, 5.2 engine, Standard Transmission

Can you tell me where the sensor is mounted? I thought it was mounted on the left side of the transmission, but it doesn't look like the replacement sensor I bought. The new one won't fit because the screw base is larger.

Any ideas are appreciated.
Thanks,
Bruce

not 100% sure about the 02's, but on my 99, the speed sensor was on the top of the rear axle. might check your rear axle, if it's the same as the older ones, it's bolted to the axle with the same stud as the rear break line "T".

It was on top of the real axle. I replaced it and it's fixed.
