Talking 86 Cutlass Supreme MOTOR or TRANSMISSION

I just bought an 86 cutlass supreme...it was running smooth. Then i was driving on the freeway and i heard a loud knocking sound that was not there earlier. Now my pressure gauge on my oil is always high. My car is drivable, it just has a loud knocking sound to it. Some people told me that it could be the flywheel but it seems to be fine, also the push rods..but they are not bent. So im clueless of what it could be..if some one could give me any information plz let me know..thanx.

Re: 86 Cutlass Supreme MOTOR or TRANSMISSION

Welcome to AF!!

I really can't tell based on your description what may be going on with your car. Can you better isolate where the noise is coming from? If it is coming from the engine it could be a rod or piston slap. If it is coming from the front of the engine it could be the harmonic balancer, timing chain, serpentine belt components or water pump. If it is coming from the area around the transmission housing it could be the flywheel, axle shaft or if automatic the torque convertor. Try to isolate the noise and post again.
