04 LE How to check transmission fluid

04 Camry LE. 25,000 miles. I have a slight transmission leak. I do not think there will be any problem. The vehicle is still under warranty.
I want to check the fluid level. Believe it or not I have checked the entire owners manual but there is no word about it. As if there is no transmission fluid at all. They have instruction on how to check oil, power steering, even window washer fluid. Anything but the transmission.
So the quistion is: is it Honda-like check after you shut the engine off or is it regular one check, like the rest of the vehicles?

Re: 04 LE How to check transmission fluid

First of all, fix that leak. You don't want your transmission fuild leaking and running on empty later on, it will try your transmission.

As for checking the fluid, it really doesn't matter if you turn on your car once and turn it off like you do to check the oil, but it really wouldn't hurt to turn on the engine once. Just pull out the dipstick and check if the level is right, also the color should be pinkish. If it's brown or darker, you might need to flush it out and change it.

Re: 04 LE How to check transmission fluid

Download the service menu in this forum, it really helps a lot, you can find how to check the transmission fluid:

AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FLUID
LEVEL
(a) Park the vehicle on a level surface.
(b) With the engine idling and the’ parking
brake applied, shift the selector into all
positions from ”P” to ”L” and then shift
into ”P”.
(c) Pull out the dipstick and wipe off the fluid
with a clean rag. Re–insert the dipstick
and check that the fluid– level is in the HOT
ran nge.
(d) Perform this check with the fluid at normal
driving temperature (70 – 80 C or 158–
176’ F).
NOTE: Wait about 30 minutes before che–
cking the fluid level after extended driving
at high speeds in hot weather, driving in
heavy traffic or with a trailer.
