Rust on rear break rotors

I've just replaced front pads and rotors (99 3.1se, 153k miles) I had to , coz i had bad rotors, all car was shakeing while braking especially at highway speed. Now it's good. I didn't really care about rear ones. But lately i've noticed a lot of rust and very uneven wear ( two thin lines) on rear rotors like they haven't been used for a long while. Does it mean that my rear pads should be raplaced?? They don't look that bad yet. Any suggestions before i will do it?

Depending on where you live you might check to see if the rear calipers are working properly. That doesn't sound right unless there is a problem. There should be some signs of use, wear or that they are making contact with the rotors. How old are the rear pads?

Seconded on the rear calipers, up here in NYS, plenty of issues with slider pins binding and causing no brake action and /or rusted rotors.

Yeah thats true Max, especially if you live by the ocean.

Yep, I agree also. Anywhere that uses salt on the roads in winter will cause the pins to seize and cause the wear you describe.

Since I live on Jersey shore in summer and in Phila in winter I guess salt may be responsible for that... thanks guys, i would never think about that.
