Exclamation Neon wasn't replaced...

The Neon wasn't replaced... DCX can say that, but the Caliber is a completely different car. That's like the U.S. Army saying they're replacing the Humvee with a Ford Ranger... don't think so.

So, to our friends like Miguel, vote in this poll and show everyone how popular you think your Neon still is, unless you REALLY dig the Caliber... then I suppose we can look back on the percentages and see just EXACTLY where the Caliber stands among Neon owners.

95-99 Sedan only way to go for me! I'm not big on the coupes, unless it's an all out race car.

Well the 2nd-gens weren't too bad weight-wise... if you removed the spare tire and hardware, and removed the extra lining from the trunk, under the hood, and floormats, you can get them close to 2500 lbs... it's hard to find a lot of cars today that go under the 3000-lb mark.

I'm not knocking the 2nd gens, I actually like'em, but I just prefer the 1st gen and proabably always will Although with the gas prices, our next car might be a Honda Accord Hybrid

I love the Gen 1 Neon.Probably because it is paid off and all I can afford to drive. But the SRT4 neon is just sexy.

To tell you the truth I really never liked the Neon. I never liked the "Hi" look it had in the front, like a lady-bug smiling at ya. But when I finally noticed the re-vamped 2nd-gen after 2000, and then especially the front-facia facelift in '03/'04 when they actually put a trim section into the bumper and moved the square parking lights into the headlamps themselves, it looked much more appealing to me...

I test drove my '04 and bought it because it was the cheapest new car (except a Kia, hell with that!) that they sold around here, it was a gas miser, and it was a 5-spd (fun to drive) and had better overall performance stats when compared to a Civic or Focus in '04. I have had it for 2 years now... and I don't mind the 4 doors any more, and I have to say it is by far it is better and more fun to drive than any 4-cyl or even 6-cyl car that I have ever owned... just my personal opinion though.

Re: Neon wasn't replaced...

It'd be nice to find one in the junkyard and transplant the 2.4 SRT4 motor into the 1st-gen Neon... and take the bigger 2nd-gen Neon and throw a 6.1L Hemi and drivetrain in it out of a 300C (with heavier modifications, of course)...

He he he. As far as I know, a "spinner" is also a name for a really cute and prissy "sl**" that hangs around car guys and the club and hooks up with whoever has the best ride and the best whatever that particular night... just my understanding of the term... I could probably say the same for the hood of my neon lol

Re: Neon wasn't replaced...

I'm a linetech for DCX working under a master viper technician... and yes it was replaced with the caliber.

It's built on the same platform. That's like saying the Charger and Magnum have nothing in common.

Only reason I'm in here is I'm looking for a cheap POS to get me to work and back while I'm saving for something not in the 17s.

If you guys have any technical questions go ahead and ask. I'll give it a shot.
