1996 grand am rides and still hits hard on bumps

I own a 1996 pontiac grand am se 2.4L automatic.I recently had my shocks/struts changed on my car front and back.Had it aligned afterward,my car still hits hard on small bumps. My car has brand new tires balanced rotated aligned and still not feeling smooth ride. Also when im driving on the highway my steering wheel shakes only when im going over 70 mph. Also it feels like it goes to sides when driving not to much though. So any help would be fine thanks.

Did you have your tires balanced as well? check your tire pressure and make sure there at the recommmened PSI, you can check on the side of the drivers door it should tell you there. If the car still rides rough take it in and get the tires balanced.

Yeah, the 70 MPH vibration might be the tires out of balance. As for the bumps you feel, if you can jack up your front end, shake your wheel from side to side and feel for play-if so- that might be a tie rod end. Then shake the wheel up and down-if any play- might be a bad ball joint, way bar link pin, wheel bearing.

If you do have some play, have someone shake it for you while you look underneath the car.
