Gas Leak?

Ok just trying to figure this 1 out b4 i go buy parts i dont need.


I just bought a 1993 buick Century. So far i love the ride. The only problem isthe previous owner said you cant fill the gas tank past a half a tank or it will leak. My question is would this be caused by a fuel pump gasket or something else besides a hole in the tank?? Or does it sound like a hole in the tank.

Oh yeah also i looked under and can see that gas has been dripping down the drivers side of the tank, But there was none dripping when i looked just wet..TIA

Edit: And it also seems to be coming from the top of the tank. Cant see where though.

Sounds like a small hole or crack to me.
Did you take the tank off and visually inspect it yet?

No i havent taken the tank off yet. But im going too. very busy at work.

Ive also noticed when i turn on my head lights my Dash lights shutoff instantly. Radio light everthing. But my map light and dome light still work anybody got a clue on what would cause that to happen?

EDIT: Also ive noticed the fuel pump humms loud enough to here it and stops 2-3 seconds after i shut the car off.

Sounds like your going to have to drop the tank to check it out anyways so hows about putting a new fuel pump in while your at it as a maintenace item?

Yeah I was trying to drop the tank over the weekend. Got 1 bolt out then went for the next 1 and touched a gas line. The gas line broke rite off almost like it was already broken.

So im grabbing some new lines a fuel pump and tank and haveing a mechanic put them in..

I other problem im haveing is finding a sway bar.Anybody got a clue where i can get a new swaybar??? TIA

Also ive allready posted a WTB n the sellers section.
