Idle on 94 2.2 RS?
Hi All I need some help... My cavalier is idleing at 1000 rpm in park I have to assume It should be around 750 or 800? Anyway I think that 1000 is to high. The only thing I can think of is that I have added a WAI with a K&N filter. Would my assumption be correct to think that If I am opening up the air flow thru a less restrictive air setup that the RPM would go up as its taking in more air faster? This would be the only thing I can think of. Anyone have any other thoughts? Thanks Tom

Re: Idle on 94 2.2 RS?
i have a 98 cavalier 2.2L ls with a performance intake and exhaust..... im at 1000 rpm, but thats what your supposed to be at... if your not, you might have rich gas, which is common and could make your rpm go up slightly because it burns better, most people get "rich" gas once or twice a week just by luck... citgo is a place where its usually always rich.... if thats not if, make sure your idle sensor / clutch sensor is on.... i dont think the filter would make your rpm higher....

Re: Idle on 94 2.2 RS?
Its definitely not supposed to idle at a grand. When it reaches operating temp it should be closer to 700 rpm. It could be getting too much fuel which could be related to a multitude of sensors or the IAC could be malfunctioning. A good tech should have no trouble figuring this out.
