Deposit on dip stick

Noticed a couple of months back a strange film/coating on the dip stick when checking the oil (Light brown color, does not look burnt, looks more like a molasses (sp). Also, looked like crystalization around the end of the stick. Took it in and got an oil change but forgot to ask the dealer about this. Anyone else have this happen? Of course car is out of warranty.

Not trying to be an alarmist, but sounds like water in the oil. How is the head gasket, and is she using any water?

Re: Deposit on dip stick

No problems that I can see. Water is fine, have not gone through any that I know of since I have had the car. I will keep an eye on it in the future.

Re: Deposit on dip stick

You could send in an oil sample to Blackstone for an analysis. It would tell you if there is any coolant leakage and the general state of the engine.
