Boss 429 dims?

Is there anyplace that has the dimensions for a Boss 429? I found one that says the length is 34 inches, but is that front of block to back of block or water pump shaft to crankshaft or what? I may try to scratch build one. Thanks.

Re: Boss 429 dims?

The dimensions I found online says 30 x 34 x 30 (width x length x height).
I'm no expert on this, but according to the Ford Racing catalogue (pdf available for download at
http://www.fordracingparts.com/download/catalogs.asp ), it looks like the length is measured from the water pump shaft to the flywheel face, and the height from the cam cover to the bottom of the oil pan.

You might also want to use the detailed dimensions like bore, stroke, and the distance between the con-rod journals to determine the size of the head and block.

Thanks. I sat down last night and used the bore, bore spacing, and stroke to get a rough draft. It would probably be easier to buy the 3 N 1 mustang to get the engine.
