01 impala electrical problems

My Impala LS has a new problem:The door ajar light comes on and will not shut off until the car is shut-off and restarted a few times. Also the map lights and the indoor courtesy lights will go on and stay on even after the key fob locks the doors and shuts the headlights off.
Is this a short or a BCM problem? Has anyone else experienced this problem and found a solution for it?

Re: 01 impala electrical problems

Sounds like a BCM problem to me... My parking brake light turns on when it should be off, and turns off when it should be on... Knowledgable people in this forum have told me it's probably the BCM...

Re: 01 impala electrical problems

Gems,
I traced it down to a defective door sensor. About a month ago I replaced the
LR power door lock solenoid. On this car it is all one unit -the sensor, the solenoid, and the latch. The sensor was bad.
