Exclamation Valve Clicking Help

ok i bought my 1992 olds eighty-eight Royal about a year ago. i noticed that the valves made some clicking. not really noticeable. now a year later i noticed that the noise has been getting louder. i know it's the valve train, because if you start the engine, and open the oil filler cap, it gets louder. i'm thinking maybe the valves aren't getting enuf oil. i noticed that there isn't a lot of oil flow inside the valve cover, some, but not a lot. Am i right in my diagnosis?

if not what could cause the clicking? if so what could be inhibiting the flow of oil?

p.s. i also have a check engine light for a lean exhaust circuit, but this shouldn't really matter much, should it?

Re: Valve Clicking Help

you sure its not your injectors clicking? if your sure its your valves clicking you could always try and clean your crankcase with either some marvel mystery oil or some seafoam. Take out however much oil your going to replace with the seafoam or mmo and then pour whichever product you choose then let the car idle for about half an hour and then change your oil and filter.

Re: Valve Clicking Help

yep if you have the 92 with egrless they are notorious for burning valves.

Re: Valve Clicking Help

hmmm.. i notice something, somedays the sound goes away. not all at once but very gradually. it's strange... because it clicked pretty loud the other day, but last night you could barely here it... i'll try that thing you mentioned with the oil. i'll get back to you on how well it worked.
