Colors, colors, colors. What to choose?
Hey guys
I'm in need of some help with a color scheme Currently my car is bright red 91 sedan, with a mostly dark interior I'm quite certain i will be making the base color of the car black, probably just a gloss, none of that metallic stuff. I also want to go the NO CHROME route, that includes interior and engine bay. I want it to be like a shadow waiting around the corner that no one can see (yeah, a full out sleeper baby)My original plan was to make the trim of the car a blue color, similar to this guy ---> That would include spark plugs, wires, hoses, split loom, emblems, vents, etcWhile it would make the car look cool, it would give it more of a show car look on the inside and engine compartment. But, i also dont want to go too over the top, (ex - while coloring the interior vents blue could look cool against black, i think it might be too far for the type of look i am going for) My other problem was the stereo system i was looking at, Sony Xplod, which, as far as i know, only comes as Red. So, next i was thinking black, with red trim to go with the stereo system. (If anyone knows of a really nice (fairly cheap) system that is black/blue, lemme know) The other good thing about the red trim is that the car is already red, making this slightly easier to do. My civic project doesn't start for at least 2 weeks, so i still have time to think about it, but any input would be great. Any ideas you've got, or things that have looked good, throw at me. I'm trying for a nice sporty look, one that also helps with the sleeper look. My other problem, is my interior in general. The dash, and some parts of the doors are the dark grey color, while the majority of the car is a very light grey color. I am tempted to make everything a darker color (mainly black), but if i turn everything black, will it look weird? I know all about painting interior parts, so that isn't a problem, but i'm just not sure if making everything black will suit the car. (The other option is choosing a color from above and painting vents and other random things) It will also be hot as hell in the summer time. So...my interior thoughts... -Go COMPLETELY black -Leave some of the light grey interior parts -Change everything to black, except for vents and other random thigns in the car which will be blue/red/something Also...if it's a problem with gutting the interior, i plan on doing that anyway. Carpet needs to be replaced badly... I know i should make my car the way "I" like it, but my personality changes every day, so if i can only please myself 10% of the time, i'd at least like to please a larger majority of the people out there ![]() I can have pictures of what my car looks like now in about 24 hours when i get to my own computer |

Re: Colors, colors, colors. What to choose?
Just to let you know, the new sony stuff is black, subs are black, amps are black and silver, with blue lighted window..bought one last night, mated to two 10" alpines type r's for a girls new mustang (bday present) that she got...
Also, on the interior color...I went ENTIRELY black, and it is much cooler in the daytime now..except for the dash of course, which I may havce goten gloss black for insted of satin with a clearcoat... But overall its not hotter or cooler inside really, I also made things like the upper door panel red, wrapping around the top of he dash, and door handles and cranks etc.. I made the vents black because I wasnt going for over the top...

Re: Colors, colors, colors. What to choose?
Ahhh that's good to hear. Of course, that means i could get a cheap set of the older style xplod's cheaper since the new model is out, but it sounds like their new color is more appealing to me anyway. Thanks for the info.

Re: Colors, colors, colors. What to choose?
My car has grey interior with blue accents... vents, cluster hood, speaker pods (rear), console surround and it hasn't been that much of an eye sore. However, I think stock would really have been sufficient. My car was orginally Barbadoes Yellow stock, but that was long before I owned it. When I bought it the car was Nitro Yellow Green which was just bright as hell. In a world of SUVs it wasn't so bad to be noticed. But now it's primered and I'm going to go with grey and blue theme since I have a grey and blue interior. My advice is, since you want to be a sleeper and your car is red, think about what your long term goals are first. Do you really want to paint your car black and have a red engine bay and red door jambs, hatch seams, etc. Are you going to pay big bucks for a paint job and have all of these parts done too? Sounds like you're going to go on the cheap for a system to match what you want so it doesn't sound like you plan on going big time with exterior paint. Anyway, it's just something to think about.
