92 Prelude Motor Replaced

I recently replaced my Preludes motor with a motor from Japan. It is the 2.3 dual overhead cam. Now we can't get the check engine light to go off and it will not show a code from the computer. Has anyone ever had or heard of this happening and if you have what did you do to fix the problem?

Thanks for any info.

Re: 92 Prelude Motor Replaced

It may be there for a reason. Something on the motor could be bad.
Try resetting the ECU and see if it pops up again. If it does, maybe shoot down to a shop and hit up the computerized diagnostics..should be able to give yu a little more info then OBD

Re: 92 Prelude Motor Replaced

Not good with the abbreviations, but We have reset the computer and it still comes on. The motor was put in by a professional shop and they have a computerized diagnostic system and still didn't show any codes. What is ECU and OBD?

Thanks for your help.

Re: 92 Prelude Motor Replaced

ECU = electrical control unit (the computer that you already reset)
OBD = On-board diagnostics

Basically Mazdax is saying a shop with a diagnostic computer can tell you more than the minimal diagnostics available from your ECU.
