Help! I Removed Kill Switch now my Tracker Won"t Start

I hope someone can help me. I just bought a 1994 tracker. It had a kill switch on it that required a key type device to be inserted. It was in a bad spot and the other night I hit it with my knee and knocked it out (this has happened before). I put it right back in. The next morning it wouldn't start. Today I tried to remove the kill switch. I removed it and patched back the wire that they had cut into. It was a black wire with yellow stripe. It still won't start. I get nothing but a click as if the battery were dead but it's not. I checked it. It's brand new anyway. All the lights will come on and accesories work. Any ideas what it might be and what I need to do would sure be appreciated. This is drivning me nuts. Thanks
