Potential buyer question

First of all you have to relize how hard this is for me. I have spent most of my tuner days mocking hondas, and here I am thinking about getting one. Although most of my contempt for Hondas was due to the high schoolers out there driving like they think they're Fast and Furious. However I have always respected Hondas for their reliability. My delema now comes in the for of gas prices. I currently and driving a 97 Eclipse GSX with every mod you can posibly do to it done. It has a JDM 6-bolt engine, and Evo III Big 16G turbo, MAFT (for fuel curve adjustment), 650 cc injector, 190 fuel pump, ect, ect. You get the idea. However last night I had to fill up and almost bached at the 2.79 price for gas. Granted I have to fill up with supreem, and the all wheel drive eats up gas millage like there is no tomarrow. My question now comes to what type of gas is required for this car? Regular or supreem. I seem to be reading that gass millage in this car runns from around 23 to 30 MPG depending on the driver. Can anyone else conferm these numbers? Also what is insurance on these car run? Especialy for a single 25 year old male who has never had a speeding ticket, or accedent.

Re: Potential buyer question

premium is required and I wouldn't recommend ever using a lower grade in this car. Mileage rating for the s2k is 20/26 give or take. It's like 1 mile difference between the 2.0 00-03 and the 2.2 04 till now. Any car that makes 120hp per liter is going to require premium...thats just a given.

Re: Potential buyer question

Cool, I was hopping becuase it was not force air induction that the octain would not need to be so high. I have an Aprilia Milles 1000, so I'm looking to get out of the tunner thing for a while. I still want a car that has zip, but I'm not looking for the fastest thing on the street any more. Any advice would be helpfull.

Re: Potential buyer question

Love My s2k
I run 91 octane, and ocassionally fill it with unleaded racegas 60/40 blend and can feel the difference.
Fun car.

Re: Potential buyer question

FYI, S2000s can get 30-32 mpg on the highway if you drive it a bit more conservatively. I average about 24 mpg mixed, and I VTEC a LOT.

Re: Potential buyer question

Ok, just to give a quick history. I've gone from a 69 camaro, to a 91 miata, to a 94 miata, then the Mitsubishi GSX. I understand exhaust and turbos, and suspention, but I'm a little hazey on VTEC. I undersatand it has something to do with the cams and timing, like Valve Timing Electronic Controll, or something like that. I didn't know you could controll the vtec. I just thought it was somthing that happened when the engine was under load.
