Smile Codes 41, 43, 44 - 91 Bonneville LE - CES

Hoping for some input from all experienced Bonneville people:

I have a 91 Bonneville LE; the Check Engine Soon light is on. On shorting A & B on the ALDL, I get codes 41, 43, 44:

41: Cam sensor signal was not received by PCM for the last 5 seconds while engine was running

43: Knock sensor signal was either above 3.5 volts or below 1.5 volts for at least 20 seconds

44: Oxygen sensor voltage was under 0.25 volts for up to 4 1/2 minutes of closed loop operation

Anyone ever get these before? Does the O2 sensor need to be replaced?

Appreciate any input.

Thanks.

Re: Codes 41, 43, 44 - 91 Bonneville LE - CES

Welcome to AF!!

First of all the cam sensor is going bad and needs to be changed. That is why it is loosing reference. 2. The oxygen sensor is also bad and needs to be replaced. It is possible that the cam sensor issue is causing the knock sensor so after you replace the cps and the O2 sensor clear the codes by disconnecting the battery cable for a few minutes and then see what happens if the code goes away the problem is fixed. If not the knock sensor or the wire may need to be replaced.

Thank you, sir! Appreciate it. That makes sense; I will change the cps and the O2 sensor and then recheck the codes. Hopefully that should fix it.

I changed the cam sensor and the O2 sensor; that took care of codes 43, and 44, but code 41 is still there. Could it be the sensor cap that fits on the cam sensor and has the wiring?

could be the wiring, could also be the interrupter magnet.
