Deactiving a Toyota Vehicle Security System on a 90 Camry?
The alarm system installed in my 1990 Camry is very annoying. That is why I decided to get rid of it all together. However, how can I disconnect the electronic control unit, located underneath the drivers seat, while still being able to turn on the car? Once the harness and antenna are removed, the car no longer turns-over. Any ideas on how to defeat the alarm without sacrificing the use of the car?
Model # 00398-00910 All and any help is appreciated. EDIT: The FCC ID is: BABMW - 8170 Last edited by The1NamedMarc; 04-15-2006 at 05:39 PM. |

Re: Deactiving a Toyota Vehicle Security System on a 90 Camry?
I had the same situation on my '91. I am working from memory here, but the box is under the drivers seat. If you follow the wire harness it will take you under the drivers side dash. I think you will find where the security system was "daisy chained" into the wire harness. You remove two wire connectors going to the security system and then connect the two wire connectors on the car side of the system. I think the security systems back then were a dealer installed option.

Re: Deactiving a Toyota Vehicle Security System on a 90 Camry?
There was a green wire that came from the sercurity harness and into one located in the car. It's 4 pins with the others holding 3 red wires attached to the car... I'm not sure what to do with the green wire. Do you know what I mean? If not, I can try and take pictures when I get another chance... That wont be for a while though.
