making custom exhaust -but what muffler?

Im all for silent and violent but i want to make my own exhaust and for the extra 15 or so hp i will make a small trade off for noise. ill probably get the 3sx downpipe ( are the precats on the downpipe or headers bc i want to get rid of those aswell), then make a 2.5 or 3" exhaust and use on BIG muffer with one inlet and 2 outlets to keep things simple. ne ways i wanted advice as to what type of muffler to buy ( if i had a choice id go for the porche sound) and etc.
o ya would the stock tips be to restrictive for the 3" exhaust? bc i like them

You are not going to get 15 hp from a catback. 5 at the very most. As for muffler there are so many choices I dont know where to begin.

Re: making custom exhaust -but what muffler?

some one on here told me there was about 20hp to be gained with a full exhaust so i figure i could at least get 10 or so from a 3sx downpipe to the tips. ANd i like how the na's sound with the vr4 exhaust, so if one of you could direct me to a similar muffler thatd be great.

I believe my muffler is a Ractive. Sound decent...according to my Teenage daughters friends.

dynomax is cheap, and sounds good, and it's good ass quality. borla is argueably the best (it pretty much speaks for itself). Magnaflow, and HKS all have similar products. the only thing you'll ever see 20hp from is headers, so instead of dropping all that money, and loosing low end power, go hook urself up with some headers. If you must though, get a 2.5" exhaust, and I'd go with dynomax mufflers... they have sound clips on there site.
