Re: Unknown Warning Light Bus 5
It's a 2000 Jeep Cherokee Sport. It currently won't start. The engine turns over but doesn't start. The message is where the mileage usually is.

Re: Unknown Warning Light Bus 5
The bus is shorted. The bus is the circuits that all the modules use to communicate

Re: Unknown Warning Light Bus 5
its basically throughout the whole jeep. The bus connects the pcm, tcm, airbag module, door modules, abs, cluster overhead module, etc.the wires are purple and white and they are twisted together.they are inside most of the harnesses so I wouldnt just go and start trying to find the problem.A lot of times a module can be shorted internally and that will bring the bus down.Usually I will start by unplugging modules one by one and see if it comes back. Also wiggling harnesses can help you find it if its in the wiring.

Re: Unknown Warning Light Bus 5
Barney Boy,
Did you ever get this fixed? I am having the same problem. It happened to me once before and I pulled out all of the fuses and it started right up. Did it again and the same thing. Pulled a loose fuse and it started right up. the Previous Owner did some crazy stereo wiring. I think he bent one of the fuse holder prongs. Now the Jeep is at fab shop and they can't start it to drive it around and test the work out. I am 120 miles away. Anyone know if there a fuse I should tell him to look for? |

Re: Unknown Warning Light Bus 5
Got it
It was a fuse. We jumped a link over them and wham!!! Fired right up. It was the first 20 amp from the bottom on the row closest to the frnt of the Jeep. I am going to run a fuse link off of it so it will not happen again.I would like to hear what your problem was if you got it fixed. Dan |
