ABS light reset code

I own a 2001 Ram 2500 Diesel. The other day my ABS light came on. It turns out that one of the wheel speed sensor wires was in contact with the wheel, and was cut in half. I soldered the wires back together and then disconnected the battery to hopefully remove the error code. The ABS light still comes on, so now I am wondering if the sensor is really bad or if there something else I need to do in order to clear the error code. Will disconnecting the battery clear the ABS error codes, or is there a code that needs to be entered with the ignition? I hate to take it to the dealer, they quoted me a price of $650.00! I appreciate any information that can be offered here.

Thanks a lot!
Ron

Re: ABS light reset code

Some autopart stores will check for codes for free, and maybe clear them. Auto Zone does it if there are any around your area.
