88 528e gauge problems i'm gonna scream!

I recently bought an old 88 528e to fix up, as of yeasterday all my gauges and my OBC worked fine, i had pulled the gauge panel out to replace a couple bulbs that were burnt out, i got those changed and they all work fine, but now my economy gauge does not work and my OBC screen no longer lights up (though it still seems to work or at least the clock does i can see it if i shine a flashlight into it). now i did find a wire thats not plugged in that i must have knocked out its a single wire brown and red that goes into one of those squarish blue plugs the same as the other 3 just like it that plugs into unit in the high beam light area. when i ground that wire it makes my economy gauge bounce so obviously its connected and probably my problem (OBC light going out could have just been convienant to happen at that same time or maybe it has something to do with it also?) now i've spent 2 days about 6 hours each day searching for anyplace to plug that stupid wire in and I can find nothing, i can't figure it out using the bently manual either I guess i'm just not that smart. If anyone can tell me where that thing plugs in I'll love you forever!
