is it worth getting a vr6 with manual trans in my 96 jetta
i have a 96 jetta 2.0 auto trans, with 139xxx miles. i was thinking or getting a vr6 engine with 5speed tranny. i want to know is it worth it. Basically i am looking for more horsepower. and can i get an estimate for the labor and parts.

All I know is the 2.0 engines have 115 HP... the VR6s have 173. Big difference. I don't know what kind of HP difference adding the VR6 tranny in would do.

hey ongi, i have a 2.0 with manual trans.. it is stock, and it runs 17.9 seconds in 1/4 m.
it will be worth depending on youre needs and desires. if you whant to run better not faster change the transmition to manual. if you whant to run faster change the hole deal. |

I have a 96 with a 5sp and it clicks in reverse. I understand that a lot of the manuels have this noise and that it can lead to a total transmission failure. I say stick with you auto.
