'98 Regal GS - glove box lock cylinder removal from latch body
I am having to replace the glove compartment latch assy., which is really two parts: the front piece (which holds the lock cylinder) and the back piece which is mounted to the glove compartment door using two screws. These parts are held together by a long, spring loaded pin which runs through holes in the assembly body.
The plastic which forms the holes in the body failed and hence I have to replace the part. It requires that you remove your existing lock cylinder (which is retained in the front piece). I have tried rotating the lock to the open and locked positions and cannot get the cylinder out of the body. Can anyone help by describing exactly what I need to do? Thanks, in advance, Chris |

When I got mine last year, the dealer ordered a new latch and I put it on myself. I had the same problem you had... I just installed it without the lock cylinder.
