troubles with heater and fan control faceplate

Hey guys!

Have been soaking up all the knowledge contained in these threads, and now I have a problem that I can't seem to find an answer to. My heater/fan control faceplate was cracked and busted when I first bought it and it drove me nuts looking at it. So I went on the hunt at the wreckers to find a replacement. Trouble is mine appears to be unique among civic/crx's. I have an 89' crx si, and its a model made directly in Japan. Normally there is a sliding lever that controls whether the air comes out of the vents, bi-level, floor, and defrost - mine has buttons instead of this lever...Also the recirc and fresh air are normal a sliding lever whereas mine is push button. So that was the start of my prob...couldn't find a replacement anywhere. What I did find was a push button unit out of a 90' accord...it has a slightly different design looks wise but is nicer and will fit right in cosmetics wise...I removed the unit from the accord and cut the wiring harness before the connector so I would have a guide when attempting to install it...Some wires are the same colour, some vary...Anyhow I started testing it out and wiring everything together which was somewhat of a guessing game I connected a couple of wires that matched and got the unit to switch the vent blower on..then started to hook up more wires, then nothing....I even wired up the old one to see if it worked and nothing....I'm assuming there is a relay or something that has blown cause there is no fuse that feeds the unit on the fuse panel....

Does anyone know where the relay is for this...the fan works, but I can't switch between recirc, and fresh air...or change the vents the air comes out of....also if anyone has the answer to that question - can anyone give me any tips as to safely wire this new unit up? As I said it has Identical controls, and the same number of wires...

Thanks to anyone who took the time to read this...would have made it shorter, but I wanted to make sure I included all the info I could....

Drive fast and take chances!

Damn man. I'm sorry to say it but all CRXs (at least Si's) have push button climate controls and the Civics have the levers. You could've probably just went and found another 89 CRX Si climate control face-plate and plugged it right in.

hey thanks man...thats the first straight answer I've been given...I noticed the civics all had the levers no matter what year they were...but the few crx's out there are gutted by the time I get to them
