Is it worth it

Before my project gets a little out of control I wanted to get some opinions on what I should be doing. I was changing the balancer on my 94 stang and my dad asks me: for how much you put into this car you might as well buy a new car.

For all of the money into the car I will never get it back, what if I get into a car accident. With the high gas prices I was thinking, maybe I want something I drive and not worry about the gas. What ever I go with I'm going to do some autoX racing with it. But then I would have a car payment and not very much power. That is ok in autoX but not on the on ramps. An MX-5 would be great for autoX and have convertable top also. I would really miss the power and sound of that motor.

What do you guys think.
