Oil Talk - 2002 Jetta......Need Advice!
I just bought a used 02 Jetta and its about time to have the oil changed. My dealer told me I could go every 5,000 miles on Casterol, which I did. Does everyone here do the same thing or just go with the regular oil and change every 3,000? What's the advantages to both?
From what I have heard, Jettas are hit and miss when it comes to quality, so I don't want to screw something up. Thanks! |

Is it a TDI, VR6, or 1.8T? If it is a TDI, you need to use Casterol. I would rec. using Casterol in the other two, also. Casterol is a better oil. You change you oil every 5k. Don't go any longer than 5k.
It is a 2.0L? I would go not longer than 5k, but it would be better if you change it at 3k beacause some of the 2.0L have a small oil burning problem. I would aslo rec. using Casterol. I have two 1.8T Jettas. I always use Casterol and change it every 5k.

Can only go 5k if using synthetic.
3k on normal oil. Just make sure to check oil level every 1000 or so miles. |
