It's that time...

hey guys, i guess i'm just lookin' for a general opinion.

i took my '94 SL2 in today for a routine oil change/etc, and they told me i need new front brakes and my rear wheel cylenders are leaking. repairs (through my local dealer) say it'll cost about $1000 in total....i'm taking it tomorrow to my local mechanic to see what he thinks. (something to keep in mind: i bought it for $1000, and just got new tires (~$500) and had to have my catalytic converter replaced ($800 and change))

so here's the question:

is it worth putting another grand into her or should i start shopping?

thoughts/opinions appreciated.

Re: It's that time...

its no grand to replace that stuff. for ac delco replacement pads and rotors, hell even calipers would be like $300-$400 max. wheel cylinders from dealer can be a bit pricey for the little things they are, but shouldnt cost more then $100 for replacement maybe a little higher. this is with a kind of high larbor rate.

if the local mechanic can be trusted and is competant, then take it to him. it definitely wont be no grand, and if it is tell me where you live and i will be out there to fix it for alot less
