Bastard 20g is it overkill on my fwd

Ok im in the process of doing little upgrades to my car. im dropping my tranny and putting in an sbr lsd insert next week. and getting dsmlink and bigger injectors in about a month. and been looking at this http://www.slowboyracing.com/more.php?id=1977&

pretty sleeper turbo since its in the tdo5h. but i think it will be overkill. i might not be able to keep my tires from spinning when i hit boost. i just want to hit 12's i dont care if its 12.999 i just want to hit it. or should i look into 50trim's. what do your guys think?

Re: Bastard 20g is it overkill on my fwd

12's on a FWD should be pretty attainable on that turbo. I think you should be ok as long as you get some stickier tires up front. IIRC, theres some street legal drag radials by BF goodrich or bridgestone for fairly cheap (~$100 per tire).

Wow, I never saw that turbo before. What are the specs on that beast? (Spool time, max, supporting mods needed, approx. 1/4 times, good daily driver)

I'd choose a 50 or 60 trim over that. I'd like to see some copressor maps if they're avalible.

Re: Bastard 20g is it overkill on my fwd

A 20g wheel is a 20g wheel, no matter how you slice it. 48 lbs/min max flow. If you are worried about wheel spin when you hit full boost, you might consider a 6H variety, which I prefer anyway for the added VE. I'm not a big fan of big wheels stuffed into small housings, and prefer the full 6h 20g, but that's just me. Everyone has their own set of goals and priorities. To answer the original question, a 20g of any type is not overkill on a FWD, in my humble opinion.

Re: Bastard 20g is it overkill on my fwd

Yeah the 20g would be perfect, or a 50 trim. Either one, in my opinion, would be a good choice. I think the 60trim would be overkill unless you are planning on making huge power with lots of boost. Get the 20g....

Edit> I just looked at your mods list and am wondering why you are wanting to do an upgrade? The EvoIII 16g GT should be able to get you into the 12's easy...why not just tune that? Bigger injectors and some sort of tuner +slicks equals 12.XX Even what you have now plus slicks equals 12.XX

when i mash on the gas on the stock t-25 turbo my tires loose traction.Im only boosting 13 psi. Im sure its my tires though. Even though they only have around 1000 miles on them. The tire is made by Fuzion. Anybody heard on them?

that's because the power delivery on the T25 is instant, your tires can't take them, plus those are shitty

but with a big turbo, that delivery is slower, but a lot stronger, it just depends on spool time and tire with a big turbo.

not a bad turbo to be stuck with when you consider the stock turbos of some other cars (VW for example)
