Question Roller engines

I was reading in the old c/k pages and they said something bout the new gen 3 engines are better than old 350's because they are roller engines.. what the hell does that mean?

roller lifters and i believe roller rocker arms.in case u have no idea what that means basically the point at which the cam lobe hits the lifter has a small roller to reduce friction.thats pretty much as simple as it can be explained. thats not the only difference between the engines tho. theyre completely different engines.

Instead of starting a new thread i figured i would ask here. I was just talkin bout quiet in general. I have a 5.3 and i cant hardly hear it when it idles. what did they do to make them so quiet?

The Roller Rocker is in the pivot point not the pushrod to rocker or the rrocker to valve. Have done 2 cams recently and both are the same.

Exactly.. they are not so quiet when you take the muffler off. LOL

I put a Borland Turbo muffler on my 5.3 and boy does it sound better. Not real loud but just better. I think the MPG went up a little also.
