Mk3 GTi Clutch/Tranny problems?

Not to sure what to think of this problem.... however the clutch on has recently started 2 slip but only at high revs and if i put the foot down as soon as i change gear so its not to bad, will b gettin a new clutch soon. However... the main problem is....
When putting into reverse there is a bit of grinding and a huge clunk where the car jolts in 2 gear!? clearly not right! 1st gear is sometimes impossible 2 select but only after driving for a while!
the other gears are fine so this is quite a confusing problem! some people say that a worn clutch can affect this??
i cant work out how that would matter.

anyway if any1 has any ideas or suggestions as to what it might be, to save me forking out for a new gearbox, i would be grateful!

Re: Mk3 GTi Clutch/Tranny problems?

Your worn cluch and probably pressure plate does not alow for a full dissengage so that would be why you have problems, raplace them and your problem is normally solved keep driiving it like this and you will be looking at a new gearbox from all the forcing it into gear.
