I am the owner of a 1998 Sunfire Convertible, 2.4L.
Driver's side headlight is very dim while the passenger side is normal brightness, both under normal and high-beam operation. Also the Headlamp/DRL indicator clicks and flashes repeatedly during daytime operation unless I turn on the headlights. I replaced the halogen bulb with new ones twice and also switched it with the working one from the passenger's side. Confirmed it is not a bulb problem as all 3 bulbs have worked properly on the passenger side. If the DRL relay were faulty could it cause just one headlight to behave like this? Is that something that is available at an auto parts store? What else can I check - socket, fuse, ground wire ? |

Re: 1998 Sunfire: one dim headlight ?
I would check the wiring leading back from the assembly, could be corroded causing light to be dimm.

Re: 1998 Sunfire: one dim headlight ?
that's a good thread. i'll post in there as well. about your one headlight problem, i had the same in my 97 GT, and it turned out to be a bad wire. i had to take it in for them to scope and find it. a single bad wire, cost me a hundred bucks.
but check the drl relay first or what they mentioned in the other thread. you can get a drl relay cheap at a wrecker, but i'd suggest finding someone with a similar year sunfire, it's a quick swap just to check. i checked mine back when i had this problem in 20 minutes in my parking lot at work, as a co-worker had a similar sunfire. w0rd up
